I was definitely cringing during this turn out session! Kramer just got his new shoes all around, setting us back a mere $95 (choke, gag, vomit)! I knew that this would be a good opportunity to show him the new configuration of this turn out since he'd been ridden and then got his shoes, a little grazing in the direction of the pen and "voila", he was inside the pen.
He was trotting around and investigating when the horse "Awesome" who was a stud up until last year, wanted to get all high & mighty with Kramer and stuck his nose out to sniff him when ZAP!!, he touched the elec. wire between the two runs(newly installed so poor ol Awesome wasn't aware). Of course he jumped & took off and so did Kramer.
I kept my fingers crossed that he wouldn't pull off all four of his shoes as Mitch just driven away, but I knew Kramer would roughouse with or without me watching him so it was a good test. The shoes held through all the slide stops, roll backs, gallops, turns and every other reining maneuver! Once he settled down, I began picking up debris in the pen (mostly limbs & little rocks). Once I was sure he was through running around, I got his feed treat ready and gathered him from his turnout and put him in his stall. He was a happy guy.
Pictures are cute! I like the one head-on... he looks like a baby!
